Choon Su Park rode into the sunrise on his favorite daily bike ride on December 14, 2022. He was born on March 19, 1953 in Suwon, South Korea. Mr. Park is survived by his loving wife, Jong Soon Park, his two daughters Ji Sun Park and Jiwoon Park Hubik, and his son-in-law, Aaron Louis Hubik. He grew up in South Korea and married the love of his life on May 13, 1984. On February 19, 1985, the couple joyfully welcomed their first-born into the world in South Korea. Mr. Park moved to the United States soon after the birth of his first-born to work and earn income for the family. Mr. Park and Mrs. Park lived apart for 9 years. With the Lord’s provision and answers to fervent prayers, the family reunited on February 4, 1994 in Houston, Texas. A year later on January 4, 1995, the family welcomed in their second daughter, Jiwoon Park. Mr. Park worked various jobs as a carpenter, car mechanic and had his longest career in welding. He retired in 2015 and spent the rest of his years using his numerous skills to help those around him and enjoy many adventures with his family.
Mr. Park was devoted to his family, church family and friends. He came to know God at a young age and started to attend church in South Korea. When he came to America, he faced challenges in his faith but began to attend church again and became a member of the First Korean Baptist Church of Houston. He continued attending the church through the rest of his life and knew with all his heart that this was his family. Through his attendance, his own family and many other friends came to attend this church as well. He loved all the children at the church, he treated each one like his own kids. He loved to give and serve cheerfully. Even during his career, he would make time to go help anyone in need. He was the mechanic, carpenter and plumber that anyone could call and he would literally drop anything he was doing to go help those in need. He was a good neighbor who would greet anyone living next door to him. Nothing brought him more joy than the gathering of his loved ones. Mr. Park enjoyed spending time with his family and also any event where he gathered with his church members to feast. He also enjoyed his time tinkering, thrifting and inventing new things.
Mr. Park’s death was unexpected, but there is no doubt that the Lord designed the last few weeks to allow the family to make many unforgettable memories. The weekend before his death, the family previously planned a photography session to take pictures of the growing family. Thanks to this opportunity, the family was able to capture their last moments together, laughing and talking and sharing life. Mr. Park was filled with laughter and joy even in the morning prior to his bike ride.
We will always remember his sweet smiles, belly laughs, big hugs, helping hands and sweet encouragements. A loving husband and father. A dad and friend to all.
