She was born January 19, 1922, in Clara, MS, a daughter of the late William Chester and Eva Ethel Davis.
Christine was preceded in death by her first husband Jasper Margiotta and second husband Wilson Champagne; three brothers, Buford Davis, William Reginald Davis, and Kennon Lamont Davis; one sister, Floy Trigg and her best fury friend Scooter.
As a young girl Christine loved to read, a passion that helped her go on to graduate from high school. Besides being an avid reader she enjoyed baseball and would regal us with stories of playing ball with her siblings and friends on gravel roads.
She married her first husband Jasper on March 19, 1938 and lived with him in Bogalusa, LA until 1955 when the family made the move to Houston, TX. In her children’s early years she was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her a family. She spent many hours sewing clothing for each of her children as she was an amazing seamstress. After her first husband passed in 1970 she worked as a manager at American Health Foods until early 1985.
In August of 1985 she married her second husband Wilson Champagne and made the move to Slidell, LA where she spent her time taking care of him and helping run their trailer business. They enjoyed traveling together and playing the slots in casinos.
Christine could grow anything she touched and spent lots of her time tending to her plants and garden. She also had a special admiration for birds, always having a bird bath and feeders everywhere she lived.
Though Christine loved the outdoors the one thing she could not do was swim, so she was deathly afraid of deep water.
Christine is survived by four children, Eva Ann Spann, Leon Margiotta, Patricia Ledbetter, and Joseph Margiotta; who blessed her with nine grandchildren, Gina Jones, Maria Spann, Nick Spann, Chris Ledbetter, Anthony Margiotta, Trent Margiotta, Lindsey Margiotta-Lane, Josh Margiotta, and Kristy Lee Stone. She also leaves many other family members behind including 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who will sadly miss her.
