Christy was born on the 19th of August 1975, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Joe Cotta and Sharon (Wilson) Cotta. She called the Texas Panhandle and Northwest Arkansas her home growing up and graduated from Alma High School in 1993. She attended Texas Tech University and began a career in Dallas, Texas working in real estate where she met the love of her life, Andrew “Andy” William Iversen. Andy and Christy lived in Dallas at the time and eloped in New York City on the 8th of December 2001. They celebrated the wedding reception with family and friends at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas immediately thereafter.
Andy and Christy welcomed their first son William Case Iversen in 2003 and moved to Houston in 2004 where they welcomed their sons Andrew Trey Iversen (2007) and Michael Blake Iversen (2008). They settled in the Memorial area of Houston in Bunker Hill Village and are long-time members of Christ The Servant Lutheran Church in Houston.
Christy was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend who exuded compassion and grace. Among her many wonderful attributes, Christy will always be remembered for her big heart, magnetic personality, her selfless desire and natural ability to help and to connect people, her fierce loyalty to those that she loved and the way she would light up a room with her warmth and presence. Not a day passed that the Iversen household wasn’t filled with an outpouring of support from friends and family that have all been eternally and positively impacted by Christy.
Surviving Christy are her husband of almost 22 years, Andy; her sons Case, Trey and Blake; her father, Joe; her mother, Sharon; her brother, Joe, Jr and his wife Mary; her grandmother, Ruth; her father-in-law, Mike; her mother-in-law, Linda; her sister-in-law, Michelle; and many nieces and nephews.
