She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Clara D. was a native Houstonian, born July 20, 1917. She and Bill were married April 25, 1941. With great affection, they showed their children and grandchildren how to love one another for 68 years. They enjoyed traveling North America and fishing on the San Bernard River. Clara D. loved to paint and her family all have wonderful paintings to remember her by. She also enjoyed giving of her time to the Good Samaritan Shop for many years. Together, she and Bill were faithful members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
Up until the very end of her life, she continued to garden and took pride in her bougainvillea’s, teaching all those who asked, her secret in making them bloom. But her greatest enjoyment was being with her ever growing family, never wanting to miss a party or family gathering. She loved hearing what everyone was doing and always had a hundred questions to ask, along with plenty of advice to give. “Grammie” will be missed dearly, but her family rejoices in the fact that she has gone home to her Lord, and Savior, and to dance another two step with “Grandad”.
A celebration of Clara D.’s life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4040 Watonga Blvd. Houston, TX 77092. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Houston Alzheimer’s Association or Charity of choice.
