Our family has known Clifford ever since I was a young girl  . It's so sad that he is gone  but he is no longer  suffering and hopefully we can all find comfort in knowing that. We always had very fond memories of him , especially with he and my brothers in high school. 
May he rest in peace.

Another famous Sergeant Dismuke saying that we can all appreciate - “Right string, but the wrong Yo-Yo.” 

Sergeant Dismuke was easily one of my favorite desk sergeants I have ever worked for.  His sense of humor was similar to my own and he was easy to talk to one on one.  He was also one of my inspirations to promote to sergeant myself and one of the first to congratulate me.  

Most of my good memories of roll calls are associated with him.  I also ripped off one of his favorite sayings and use it all the time.  "If you don't give me no SH, there won't be no IT."  One of his many funny sayings that got us through the day.  Rest in peace Sergeant D. 

I remember working with Cliff and taking him to eat dinner sometimes when he was the desk sergeant. We had some good conversations over those cafeteria trays of food.  He would always appreciate me coming by the station to get him for those meals, or just to relieve him so he could get out of there a little early. I never minded because he was a good guy and he treated people right. He was firm when he needed to be but also did many favors as well and never wanted it to be publicized.  Well done here on earth Cliff, now enjoy heaven. 


Sergeant Dismuke and I shared a love of Oldies music.  He made many CDs for me back in the early 2000s, all of which I still have. He titled one of the CDs "Songs for Sgt. Birch"; I was still an officer but about to be promoted - this was his way of making a special gift.  My personal favorite memory from back during his CD burning days is the time I described to him a song that I really wanted him to download.  I didn't know the artist or title.  I told him that it was about a young guy who really missed his old friends Abraham and Martin and he didn't know where they were.  He laughed in my face and never let me live that one down!  He explained to me that the song was Abraham, Martin and John by  Dion, and provided me with a full social history.  I guess you could say there was a generation gap.  We got along rather well, despite.

My very first personal dealing with Sergeant Dismuke was as a rookie officer calling in sick for the first time.  I called in and requested a sick day.  There was no response on the other end of the line except for a "click."  I called back and said, "Sarge, I think we got disconnected."  He told me, "No, I hung up on you."  That was followed by another "click."  I reminded him of what he did to me that day quite often, once we got to know each other better and it was safe to do so!   

Those were good times back at North.  See you on the other side, Sarge.  




My sincere condolences to the family...I often wondered if he was ok...when  we lost touch I never forgot how he treated me as a man and as my supervisor....he never saw color, only a man.....we developed a great friendship and we both loved old school music..I took the time to make him a few good cd's with some good old fashion music...cliff you were a great superstar supervisor and and an even greater superstar human being....God bless..now you are up there with most of the folks who made the music that we loved....now you get a front row seat to many concerts..enjoy my friend.... just a couple of weeks ago I asked another friend of mine ( officer) if he knew you and i told him about you ...then i get the phone call yesterday..... REST EASY my friend

I have many memories of Uncle Cliff, but I will always remember family gatherings at our house, when he would dance to whatever the most popular rap song was at the time.  I think Sir Mix -a-Lots, Buttermilk Biscuits was my absolute favorite performance.  ❤  I also loved hearing comical stories of things that happened while he was on the police force.  You are missed Uncle Cliff, but you will forever be in my heart. I love you! ❤
