Born in Austin, Texas, on August 4, 1940. Connie worked at Foleys Distribution Center in the administration offices. She later switched career paths and explored the retail side by working at Macy's. Connie loved to decorate for Christmas, and her trees were nothing short of spectacular. They looked like they belonged in a store window display. She didn’t stop at her trees. Every inch of her home was covered in garland and Christmas lights, along with her nutcracker collection on full display. The outside of her home was no different, there was no concept of there being too many lights. Many often compared it to an airport runway. Her passion for decorating was shared with others, as she volunteered at church decorating the Christmas trees, the altar, and for the Christmas play.
Connie cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Isidro Saldaña. Her parents, Isidoro and Josephina Cervantes. Son, Gary Saldaña, Grandson, Christopher Espinosa, Granddaughter, Brittany Lemond. Siblings, Brothers, Gilbert, Sisto and Jose Cervantes. Sisters, Julia Santa Ana, Petra Aleman, and Alice Maldonado.
She is survived by her children Connie O’Brien (Donald), Isidro Saldaña (Leah), Christina Espinosa (Mike), Daughter-in-law, Angie Saldaña. Her grandchildren, Stevie, Shelby, Mikey, Bradley, Celine, Jake, Nat, Joy, Sidney, Desirea, Sofia and Mia. Great-Grandchildren, Scarlet, Mikey, Jeremiah and Carlo. Connie is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, who she greatly loved and adored. As well as, great nieces and nephews who she cared for and held a special place in her heart.
Connie will be remembered for her kindness and love for her family and friends. Connie, was always there to talk and to listen. Offering words of comfort or advice. She became a mom and grandma to so many. Connie lived a blessed and fruitful life. Her faith and strength, remained strong till the very end.
She lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel and gamble. Connie never passed up a chance to get dolled up and dressed up for any dance, party or family function. Connie was quite the fashionista.
It is with extreme gratitude, that we would like to thank her caretakers Nekidra Hastings and Rian Bell. They went above and beyond the call of duty. They treated Mom with patience and compassion. We were embraced as family. We will never forget their kindness and support.
