

Constance (Connie) Elizabeth Valence Tomlin of Atascocita, TX, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 19, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Jacomine and Etta Valence.
In 1968, Connie married Vance Tomlin, and together they had two children, Casey and Derek Tomlin. Though they later divorced, they remained close friends throughout their lives.
Connie graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana, in 1965. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston, followed by a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans. A dedicated educator, Connie built a remarkable career teaching, coaching, and serving in the Jefferson Parish school system until her retirement in 2001. Her passion for education was unwavering, and even in retirement, she continued to inspire and mentor students in the Houston area for an additional 11 years.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Jacomine and Etta Valence, and her brother, Ernest (Buster) Valence. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie Valence; her sister, Susan Pardo (Peter); her brother, Scott Valence (Celeste). Connie is also survived by her children, Casey Tomlin (Aimee) and Derek Tomlin (Mindy), and her four grandchildren, McKenna, Dane, Cade, and Lilly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie had a deep love for traveling with friends and a strong devotion to supporting her grandchildren in their various activities. She was also an enthusiastic fan of the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care team of Fountainwood at Lake Houston and Horizons Hospice for their compassionate service and dedication to Connie’s care.
Connie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on February 15, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Fountainwood at Lake Houston, 17990 West Lake Houston Parkway, Atascocita, TX.
A second service will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 146 4th Street, Westwego, LA, on March 15, 2025. Visitation will take place from 9:00–11:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego, Louisiana.
