

Neil enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and photography. He achieved the rank of Captain during his 3 years in the US Army and served 1 year in Vietnam. Neil worked in the Crude Oil Supply and Trading department at ConocoPhillips for more than 30 years. Upon retirement, he became a master naturalist and volunteered at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. He was a member of Ashford Community Church.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Cornelius Modinger Jr., and his younger sister Teri Cessani. He is survived by cousins John and Edward Modinger, brother in law, Richard Cessani and his beloved cat, Smoky, as well as numerous friends. Neil is also survived by many children and grandchildren of his friends, who lovingly called him “Uncle Moe”.
In lieu of flowers, Neil requested that donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research or the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center.
A memorial service for Neil will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ashford Community Church, 2100 Eldridge Parkway, Houston, TX 77077, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
