Cuong Trinh

1937-2016

Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dr. Cuong Trinh, at the age of 79.

He was born on October 18, 1937 in Hanoi, Vietnam. A graduate of Saigon Medical School Class of 1964, he served as a Medical Officer in the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces, the Medical Service of the 3rd Air Division stationed at Bien Hoa. After being forced to flee Vietnam separately from his family in 1975, he was reunited with them in Florida a few months later. He successfully completed certification to obtain his US medical license shortly thereafter, and was a primary care physician for the Shelby County Health Department in Memphis, Tennessee until his retirement in 2007. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Houston, Texas where he spent many years enjoying the company of family and friends, and much time traveling frequently all around the world. He passed away on April 7, 2016 in George Town, Grand Cayman Island.

He is survived by his wife Giang Nguyen Trinh, his older son Charles Xuan Cuong Trinh, daughter-in-law Sue Jong, grandchildren Clarise and Chloe Trinh, his younger son Benjamin Xuan An Trinh, and daughter-in-law Laura Wall-Trinh.
