Daniel Ernest Picazo, Sr., age 81, was called to Heaven on Friday morning, December 27, 2024. He was surrounded by his sons Duane, & Danny, and his grandson Zack, who was massaging his shoulders and neck. He will always be remembered as a strong man with a big heart who cared for his family fiercely.
Born in Houston, TX, to parents Silverio Sifuentes Picazo and Helen Lozano Picazo. Welcomed to Heaven by the love of his life, Ruth Etta Picazo, his Mother & Father, and older brothers Florentino & George Edward "Eddie" - together again, forever - a reunion he has looked forward to.
He is survived by his brother Albert Crecencio Picazo and wife Maria, and sister Dolores Vivian Williams and husband Mark, his sons Duane & Daniel Jr., his daughter-in-law, Cindy Keller Picazo, his grandchildren, Cori Noelle and her fiancee, Alex Connelly, Kacy Nicole and her husband, Robert Mitchell, Jacob Daniel, and Zachary Dale and his wife Maris, and his precious, sweet, angel, great-granddaughter Morgan Grace Etta Mitchell, who all love and miss him dearly. He always shared his heart & kindness with everyone he knew.
A tough-as-nails sailor in the US Navy and a brilliant, hard-working IBEW Local 716 electrician of over 30 years, he supported his family with the gifts of hard work granted to him by the Good Lord above. He was as hard & tough a man as ever made, yet, I don't believe there's ever been a sweeter person.
He went by many names - Danny to his family and childhood friends, Dan to all once Little Danny came along, Dad to his sons, Grandad to his grandchildren, and Great-Grandad to Morgan. No matter what you called him, you knew the strength of his beliefs, the wisdom of his advice, the generosity of his heart, and the grip his love held you in, regardless of who you were.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, January 23, 2025, from 4p to 8p at the Chapel of the Eternal Peace at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home (2454 S Dairy Ashford Rd, Houston, TX 77077). Dan's Celebration of Life will be held in the same chapel at 11a on Friday, January 24, 2025, and will be officiated by Pastor Greg Tyler of the Bridge Fellowship in Sugar Land. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
In remembrance of Dan's love of hunting and the great outdoors, his service to our country in the US Navy, and his preference of suspenders over belts, we ask you to join us in wearing camouflage, patriotic colors, and/or suspenders.
