On Kindley Air Force Base in St. George’s Bermuda, February 20, 1965, Darryl B. Carter was born the youngest of five children to Travis and Katherine Carter. Darryl spent his early years on the Island before the family returned Stateside and stationed in Laredo, TX. The family settled in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex where Darryl completed his primary and secondary education in the Fort Worth Independent School District, graduating with honors from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1983.
Darryl continued his education by earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston and then pursued his law degree at the University of Houston Law Center. He graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in December 1994 achieving his Juris Doctorate. Shortly after graduation and being licensed by the State of Texas, in 1995, he would become an Attorney for Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson (LGBS). Being admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court and Southern District, as well as segueing into private practice, Darryl spent the next 2.5 decades expanding his legal acumen amassing large corporate, government, and private clientele. He continued consulting for LGBS, as well as other legal firms and local municipalities for both Houston and Austin, Tx throughout his career.
Utilizing his gift of persuasion, Darryl began Lobbying on the floor of Congress. He would spend every other year in Austin, TX communicating on behalf of his Harris County clients. Over the years, Darryl contributed to several local and national charities including but not limited to the NAACP, American Red Cross, Jack and Jill, University of Houston, Texas Southern University, Southern University, churches, groups, and other organizations.
Outside of his career, Darryl loved family, living life, and traveling. In 2014, a chance encounter allowed Darryl to meet Jade for the first time. Neither of them knew that in 2016 they would meet again, begin dating, and understand the partnership was meant to be for a lifetime. After a mishap with a lost ring prior to proposal, Darryl and Jade made it official in September 2016. They celebrated their nuptials in Maui. As newlyweds, they traveled and enjoyed their time together. A new chapter in life began in 2018 with the arrival of twins; Autumn and Elijah, fondly known as A&E. As the twins grew, so did Darryl’s inner child. Nothing pleased him more than entertaining the twins with his knack for telling a story. Just as much as he loved his family, Darryl also loved his Dallas Cowboys. Although in Houston Texan territory, Darryl would proudly sport his Dallas Cowboys hat and jacket.
