David was the middle child of three siblings, and from the start he was bright, curious and inventive. You could always find him building, creating and expressing his many talents; his propensity for music and profound understanding of systems, mechanical or otherwise, were standouts among his natural gifts. David went on to excel in academics and the arts while attending and later graduating from The Kinkaid School. His talents on stage were notable, and his memorable performance as Harold Hill in The Music Man during his senior year was one his family and friends remembered fondly for decades.
David received a BA from Rice University, and he later received his MBA from Jones Graduate School of Business. An asset to many employers, David worked as a consultant to many top technology companies. He was skilled as a management consultant for local and global teams; as a dedicated leader, he was known for bringing everyone together with an ability to see the whole picture while guiding with energy, insight and kindness.
Where David cared most to thrive, though, was as a devoted father to his three children, Noah, Constantine and Elena. Whatever interests his kids had, he assisted in making them successful – in the arts, in music, in their studies. As they tried their hands at theater, rock bands, music making, and ballet, David’s ingenuity, wisdom and artistic knowledge served to make him a master teacher, supporter, friend and guide. His family was his greatest accomplishment and gift.
David is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Scarboro Mims, and his brother, Stephen.
He is survived by his wife, Simonne Fonseca; his son Noah Mims along with Noah’s mother Caryn Ogier and her husband Simon Ogier; his children Elena Mims and Constantine Mims along with their mother Radost Mims and her husband Brian Yates.
Additionally, he is survived by his mother Linda Mims, his sister Elizabeth Bender, brother-in-law Steven Bender, and their children Max, Rose and Sam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Houston Food Bank, as this was one of David’s most beloved organizations.
