Dawn Padget Chaky, of Houston Texas, was born July 31, 1962 in Waterloo, Iowa and passed away July 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1980 where she was an honor student with an infectious spirit who after graduation chased her dream of living in Texas. In Texas, she pursued numerous fields in construction management, banking, mortgages, and finally established herself as an Industrial Automation Specialist. This field was dominated by men but with her ability to understand the complicated technical requirements of her customers like, Exxon, BASF and Shell, made her standout among her peers, which earned her the respect of her customer base throughout the petrochemical and refining companies in Texas and Louisiana.
Dawn had a deep love for animals and would carry dog food in her car to assist any stray dog that she encountered. She often would rescue animals and pay for their medical requires out of her own pocket. Petey was a blue heeler that she rescued and was her constant companion for 12 years. Dawn loved football and could recite any NFL coach or a player’s history however tailgating before the game allowed her to find other woman that had the same passion. Anyone who knew Dawn was touched by her kindness, humor and sincerity that they never forgot.
She is survived by her loving husband Zack and was a doting and loving stepmother to two sons, Danny and Adam as well as daughter Elizabeth. She is also survived by her parents Claude and Judy Padget, her brothers Dennis Padget, Monte Padget and her sister Ann Quinn.
