With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debra Meyer Platt on February 8, 2025, at 7:14 PM. A dedicated wife, loving mother, beloved grandmother, and loyal friend, Debra's strength, devotion, and selflessness were the foundation of the life she built for those she loved. She left this world surrounded by the family she held so dear, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and unwavering love.
Debra spent her early years in Houston, where she would later attend the University of Houston. A determined and hardworking woman, she became a CPA and operated her own accounting business for 20+ years. As a female entrepreneur, she built and nurtured her company with dedication and pride, serving her clients with the same care she gave to those in her personal life.
Family was at the heart of everything Debra did. She was preceded in death by her older brother, J.R. Murillo Jr., and is survived by her devoted husband of 17 years, Andrew B. Platt; her children, Joseph Alan Meyer and his spouse Rose, Timothy Adam Meyer, and Melissa Anne Meyer and her spouse Travis Allen; and her five cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe, Colten, Cameron, and Caden. She also leaves behind her loving parents, Joseph Ray Murillo and Anna Mae Murillo, as well as her siblings, Donna C. Murillo, Paula J. Blackwell and her spouse Todd Blackwell, and Tracy J. Murillo and his spouse Autumn, along with her dear niece, Jules.
Debra’s love extended beyond her family—she had a deep passion for helping animals, frequently donating to and rescuing those in need. A breast cancer survivor, she embodied resilience and courage, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing her. She always put others before herself, ensuring that the people in her life felt supported and loved. Her unwavering devotion to her family and friends was a testament to the depth of her heart and soul.
In honor of her generous spirit, donations may be made in her memory to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP).
Debra will be deeply missed, but the love she shared and the impact she had on those around her will never fade. She will forever be held close in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
