Devora Gandy

Devora was born February 11, 1950 in Dumas, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents William Deckelman and Janelle (Deckelman) Viertel, and her brother Mark Deckelman. She is survived by her daughter Jori Pate and her family: husband Chris, children Landon, Jenna, and Travis Pate; her son Justin Gandy and his family: wife Rosemary, children George Vanzant III, and Lillian Gandy. She is also survived by her youngest brother Paul Deckelman.

Devora graduated from Southern Arkansas University and earned a master’s degree from Central Arkansas University. She spent her life in education from running preschool through being a college professor. She was a beloved woman of faith who had a radiance and joy that was felt by her family and all who knew her. We rejoice now as she is reunited with her husband George.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home where Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 1, 2025 with Reverend Brian Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Pregnancy Help Center.
