Diego Garcia

Diego Garcia, age 88, passed away on February 23, 2012, in Houston, Texas. Diego is the fifth child of thirteen. Diego was born March 5, 1923 on the family farm in Santa Margarita, Willacy County Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Federico Garcia; mother Carmelita, Son, Uvaldo, brothers Robert, Raul, Richard and sisters Bertha Gardner, Celia Estrada, and Luisa Rivera. Survivors include his wife Donna M. Mugrage, brothers Federico Jr., Luis, Uvaldo, Conrado, Ramiro and sister Udelia. Diego did not have the educational opportunity of his younger siblings. He was needed to help with the family farm and dairy. However, that would not be a barrier to his achievements. He worked on the farm until marrying and then purchased twenty acres across the road from his parents. In 1963 he moved to Houston where he learned the air conditioning and heating business. In 1966 he married Donna M. Mugrage and in 1972 he started his own air conditioning and heating business. He and Donna operated D&D Air Conditioning and Heating until his retirement in 1989. Diego arranged things so Donna would be able to retire at the same time that he did. After retirement they spent time helping to care for Donna’s father, brother-in-law, son Uvaldo and when possible assisted in the care of his sisters Bertha, Celia and Luisa.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park Funeral Home. Interment to follow in the cemetery.
