Dolores "Lola" Castillo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores (Lola) Castillo, age 70. She fought a long and courageous battle against Breast Cancer. She was born in Houston, Texas on September 24, 1954 and passed away peacefully with the love of her family on Friday, November 22, 2024.

She was preceeded in death by her spouse, Rosa Helen Patxot, parents, Teofilo and Teresa Castillo, brother, Alfred Castillo, Sr., sister-in-law, Rita Castillo, and brother-in-law, Jerry Ramirez.

Lola is survived by her sister, Cecilia Ramirez, brothers, Rick Castillo, Ricky Kwon, and George Castillo. Niece, Annette Saldana-Gutierrez, (husband, Rudy Gutierrez) Nephew, Christopher Ramirez, Nephew Alfred Castillo, Jr., (wife, Diana) Eleazar Rios, Jr., (wife, Mindy) Niece Melissa Castillo. Great Nephews, Ayden Rios, (wife, Mikayla) Josiah and Jaden Castillo, and Jacob Rios. Great nieces, Jeselle Castillo, Isis Maxwell, and Ayla Rios. Great-Great nephew, Zion Rios. Plus, her favorite doggy, Tino. 🐾

Lola also remained close with her sister-in-law, Yolanda Patxot Jimenez and husband, Paul Jimenez and brother-in-law Carlos Patxot.

Lola was a wonderful caretaker to her parents for many years, and later to her spouse, Helen.

She loved to cook and bake cakes, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her partner and family. She loved hosting family gatherings. Lola will be remembered for her activism in MAYO - Mexican American Youth Organization, La Raza Unida, Women's Rights and Battered and Abused Women's Safety and Rights, Travel Consulting, her excellent caregiving, her love of family, friends, travel, (especially the Riviera Maya) music, reading, and her beloved Houston Astros.

Lola was an extraordinary human being and will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
