He was married November 2, 1974 in Houston, Texas and sealed for Eternity, in Temple, Texas, July 5, 1983. Survived by loving wife, Celestine Merritt; Daughter, Tanya Mynar; sons, Nathan Merritt and wife, Athena, Timothy Merritt and wife, Flor; granddaughters, Audrey and Meagan Merritt; grandsons, Derrick, Dakota, Mynar, Ethan, Jonathan, Timothy and Logan Merritt: Mother, Ruth Rouse; Sisters, Debbie Burks and husband Lewis;, Dena Kanouse, brother, Leonard Rouse. Pallbearers, Nathan Merritt, Tim Merritt, Leonard Rouse, Derick Mynar, Dakota Mynar, Jeff Thompson, Jason Hillyer, and Kevin Carney.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Latter Day Saints, 65 Melbourne, Houston, Texas, Saturday January 7, 2012, at 12:00 noon. Funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 pm.
Graveside services will be at the Houston National Cemetery, Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 9:00 am
