He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia “Susie” Sue Small; his daughters, Taña Stanley and Nikki Walley; his sons-in-law’s Greg Walley and Eric Stanley; and his grandchildren, Blake Stiles, Hannah Willette, and Grey Walley.
Don proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and other commendations honoring his bravery, leadership, and sacrifice. His sense of duty, discipline, and integrity carried into every aspect of his life.
For more than 40 years, Don dedicated himself to his career at Texas Duct Systems. His work ethic was unmatched, but what defined him most was his generosity of spirit. He believed in giving people a chance—sharing his knowledge, offering encouragement, and creating opportunities for those willing to work hard. To Don, honest work and fairness were not just values but a way of life.
Beyond his service and career, Don’s greatest joy came from time with family and friends. He loved being out on the water in Livingston—trolling for bass, pulling the kids on a tube, or just soaking up the sunshine. He could turn a quiet evening into a domino marathon, a dock into a dance floor with his signature dance move, the “Donyo,” and any gathering—whether at home or somewhere tropical and beautiful—into a celebration filled with laughter, music, and a good margarita.
Don lived with a full and giving heart. His greatest gift was the way he poured into others, making sure not only his family but everyone around him felt supported and cared for. His cup was always overflowing, and he shared it freely—with no expectation of return.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, laughter, and love that will live on through the many lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared when they are available.
