Donna Joanne Botrie

Donna Joanne Botrie, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed peacefully away on December 13, 2013 at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Donna was born in Toronto, Canada on July 22, 1934 to Elsie and Harold Pirie. Donna leaves behind her loving children Alexander Botrie and Lisa Botrie Flanagan, and grandchildren Madison and Kristen Flanagan.

We know in our hearts that she has left us to join Victor, her loving husband of 52 years, who passed away on December 5th, 2009. A gracious lady who brought love and kindness to those around her, Donna was loved in return by all who knew her. Always positive and encouraging, she taught us patience and kindness. Even during her 10 month struggle with the illness that took her from us, she faced life's challenges with dignity and grace. Our memory of the wonderful person she was gives us some solace to the emptiness in our hearts.

The world was a better place when she was with us, and we are better people for having known her. A volunteer for Child Advocates for over 20 years, she also gave generously of her time to the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo School Art Program. Donna and Victor both believed that it was important to give to those less fortunate, and wanted to help make the world a better place for children who had been hurt or neglected. The family would like to thank her sister in law Lyla McIntosh, her nephew Michael McIntosh, as well as all the nieces and nephews and friends over the years that have been apart of her life.

A special thanks to Betty Modad, her secretary and friend who worked tirelessly to help her run the real estate company that her husband Victor had created. A very special thanks to Houston Hospice.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18th, from 7 to 8 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 2 pm in the main Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Child Advocates Inc, St Jude's Research Hospital for Children, or the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship fund.
