

Doris grew up with her three sisters, Hilda, Eileen, and Joan, and two brothers, Frankie and Jimmy, in Liverpool, England and met and married the love of her life, Ernest Becvar on January 30, 1951. Dolly and Sarge (U.S. Air Force) had three children while living in Liverpool, Stephen, Lynn, and James. They took the USNS Upshur to the United States and arrived in New York on March 3,1957 seeing the grand Statute of Liberty on their way in, and made their way to Wichita, KS where Gary, Eileen and Wayne were born. Doris was an incredibly brave young woman coming to America, she could not drive and her husband was still in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Alaska. Upon retirement from the military, they moved to Houston, Sheldon, Texas in 1965 where they made their home raising their six children and large family. More than anything, Doris, affectionately known to everyone, young and old, that knew her as “Do Do” loved her family. She had a successful career for many years working at Richmond Manufacturing Company. She and Ernie enjoyed living a brief time in Port Bolivar where they loved fishing and the beach life. Do Do also enjoyed volunteering at schools her children and grandchildren attended and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Frances McFarlane, husband, Ernest Becvar, her son, Gary Becvar, daughter-in-law Rebecca Becvar, and her granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Palmer.
She is survived by son, Stephen Becvar, wife Marie, and his three children, Stephanie Borghardt and husband David, Stephen Becvar and wife Glorea and Brian Becvar, daughter, Lynn Kennerly and husband Donnell, and children, Donnell Kennerly II, wife Shauna, and Kevin Kennerly, wife Sarah, son James Becvar and wife, Michelle and his son Michael Becvar, daughter, Eileen Palmer and her daughters Hailey and Claire Ritcher, son Wayne Becvar and wife Tammy, and their children, Brandy Hulon and husband, Jason, Justin Becvar and Austin Becvar and wife Katie, and Gary’s sons Stephen Becvar and wife Julia, and Dalton Becvar. In addition, she is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, her loving brother-in-law, Robert Powell. and a host of loving nieces and nephews across the pond.
