Doris Legatha Elder

Doris graduated from Prairie View A & M University with a BA degree in Business Administration / Accounting. She started her career in the Oil and Gas industry where she had over 40+ years of service/experience.

At an early age Doris accepted Christ and joined Family Worship Center, Stafford, TX. Her passion was reading, working, volunteering, cross stitching and spreading the word of God. She was a faithful member of First Metropolitan Church, Houston, TX until ill health prevented her attendance.

In 1979 Doris was married to Tommie Elder Sr. During this marriage, two children were born, Tommie Elder II and Debra Ashley Elder.

Doris was preceded in death by her father, Bunch Fowler; mother, Reba Garner-Fowler; one brother, Michael Fowler; and one sister Debra Coleman.

She leaves to cherish 2 children, Tommie Elder II and Debra Ashley Elder and granddaughter Nylah Bradford. Two sisters, Trudy M. Garner and Sheila R. McDaniel (Sam) and one brother, Craig L. Fowler and 2 Aunts, Ms. Perri Ann Matthews (Claremont, CA) and Velma Cuningham (Fort Worth, Tx) and an uncle, Bobby Garner (Houston, TX) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A home going celebration for Doris will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, followed by a reception at 11:30 AM.
