Doris J. Snowden

Doris Jean Prestidge Snowden was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on October 14, 1934 to Sadie and Olen Prestidge. She married the love of her life Jack (Virgil) Snowden on March 26, 1952. They moved to Katy in 1969. In 1974, she established Quilts 'N Such which allowed her to exhibit her talents as a successful business owner and her love of quilting, painting and folk art. Doris and Jack moved to their retirement home in Pattison in 1992.

Doris was totally devoted to her children: daughter Beverly and husband Arnold Winkelmann, daughter Lynn and husband Jerry Nelms, son Donald and wife Tammy Snowden; grandchildren, Leslie and husband Dan Taylor, John and wife Katie Nelms, Richard Bregenzer, Donald Lee and wife Briana Snowden and Daniel Snowden; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Jackson Taylor; sister, Vival Lorine Holt; brother, Harold and wife Jean Prestidge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Pattison United Methodist Church, where she loved her church family. Her struggle with cancer ended peacefully on Monday, September 26 when her lord called her home.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 1, 2011 at Pattison United Methodist Church.
