

Dorothy Barnes, 83, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born November 1, 1942, in Lancaster, Texas, Dorothy was the daughter of Foy Lee Tuley and Lena Rogers Tuley. She will be remembered as kind-hearted, selfless, compassionate, hard-working, generous, and talented, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Dorothy expressed her creativity with remarkable skill and dedication. She worked as a fashion designer and owned Boot and Scoot, a venture that reflected both her talent and determination. She was well known for her famous booth each year at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where her work and presence became a valued tradition for many. In addition to her design work, Dorothy also managed local country and western bands, offering steady support and thoughtful guidance to those she worked with.
Dorothy’s life was rooted in family and faithful devotion. She was married to Michael Allen Barnes for 65 years, and together they shared a lifetime marked by commitment and love. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son, Bruce Barnes. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Barnes; her son, Eric Barnes; and her brother, James Tuley.
In her personal time, Dorothy found joy in crafting and designing clothing, pursuits that reflected her generous spirit and creative heart. She also gave meaningfully to her community as the founder of Crafting Neighbors in Sugar Land, Texas, bringing people together through shared interests, friendship, and service.
Dorothy will be deeply missed and respectfully remembered for the warmth she offered, the work she poured herself into, and the care she gave so freely to others.
