Dorothy E. Griffitt Davitt

Dorothy was born on October 11, 1927 in Fort Worth, TX to the late Oather and Candis Griffitt. She graduated from Carter Riverside High School, Fort Worth in 1945. She later moved to New York City where she met and married James Patrick Davitt on September 11, 1949.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Oather and Candis Griffitt, brother, Garland Griffitt and son Michael Davitt.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James, son Brian and wife Kristen, daughter-in-law Maureen, sister Patricia Borman, grandchildren, Erin Yedinak, Jason Davitt, Kathleen Davitt, Kimberly Davitt, Nancy Davitt and Colleen Zavitsky. Dorothy also had six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a founding member of the Irish Society Houston in 1999. She was chairwoman for many years of the Annual Irish Emerald Ball.

Services will be held Monday, June 13th, at 10 am at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. Entombment will follow at 11:30 am in Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respect at the funeral home on Sunday, June 12th, from 5 to 8pm
