Dorothy Louise Williams Hammons passed from this life into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 26, 2012. She was our beloved and precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Dorothy was born in Maydelle, Texas to Braxton B. Williams and Annie Pauline Bingham Williams on October 27, 1925. Waiting for her in heaven were her parents, her grandson, Andrew Robert White, her sister, Elsie Wilburn Adams, and her brother, Braxton Paul “Junnie” Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Burton Dillard Hammons. They were married on October 15, 1945, and shared a love that is an inspiration to us all. Also left behind are her children: Ann and her husband Robert White of Sugar Land; and Donald Hammons and wife Marsha of Katy. Grandchildren are Alisha and Clay Weaver and Leigh Anne and Kyle Leinen of Sugar Land; Christopher Donald Hammons of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Kim and Greg Longoria of Houston. Her adored great-grandchildren are Lauryn, Sophia, and Isabella Longoria; Jack, Kate, Ben and Charlie Weaver; and Olivia and Luke Leinen. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law; Faye Williams of Nacogdoches, Joe and LuFawn Williams, and Cecil and Jeannie Williams all of Maydelle; and Maxine Stephenson of Hempstead and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and aunts.
Our precious “Mammaw” was truly a gift from God. She lived her life with dignity, grace, kindness, and integrity. She loved us all with a pure, unconditional love, and that love will help us to endure and press on until we are together again.
