Dorothy Peavy was born on January 28, 1943, in Austin, Texas, to James Franklin and Beatrice Marie Gildon. She was the oldest of six children and was a guiding light to her siblings: Clarence Franklin, Jerry Franklin, Delores Allen Thompson, Peggy Allen, and Mac Henry.
She attended and graduated from Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. After relocating to Houston, Dorothy met and married Ervin C. Peavy. From this union, four sons were born: Dwayne E. Peavy, Ervin C. Peavy Jr., Darrell A. Peavy, and Timothy E. Peavy. Dorothy worked diligently for several oil and gas companies, including Bechtel and Technip, and later retired from Fluor Daniels after more than 20 years of faithful service.
Dorothy gave her life to Christ and united with Carverdale Church of Christ in 1975, where she remained a faithful and active member until her passing. Her walk with God was evident in her service, humility, and unwavering faith.
On December 13, 2025, God called Dorothy home, and she peacefully transitioned into His eternal Kingdom.
Dorothy was a kind and gentle lady of faith. She loved her family deeply and was a devoted grandmother. One of her greatest joys was attending her grandsons’ sporting events, especially their football games. She loved life and gave freely of her love and time. She was quick to smile and slow to anger. Let there be no doubt—the world was a better place because of Dorothy Peavy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin and Beatrice Marie Gildon; her siblings, Jerry Franklin, Delores Thompson, and Mac Henry; her sons, Dwayne Peavy and Timothy Peavy; and her granddaughter, Patricia Peavy.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Ervin C. Peavy Jr. and Darrell A. Peavy; her daughter in love, Kayren Wesley-Peavy; her grandchildren, Allen Peavy, Brent Peavy (Natalie), Cameron Peavy (Marlena), Kayla Peavy, and Arika Peavy; her great-grandchildren, Asiah Peavy, Jace Peavy, Grayson Peavy, Brynn Peavy, Bryce Peavy, Jacarious Peavy, and David Pitts Jr.; her brother, Clarence Franklin (Merlene); her sister, Peggy Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
