Dorothy Marie Specks

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” - Psalm 91:1

Dorothy Marie Specks was born in Matagorda, TX on November 24, 1932, to the late Elsie Parker and the late Willie Mae Parker.

Dorothy is survived by her children Darlene Richardson, Arlevia Lewis, Carnell Specks, Jr. and Louidelle Specks, her sisters, Virginia Ferguson and Barbara Jean Parker, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She now joins those who preceded her in death: her husband Carnell Specks, Sr., her sons Clifford Specks and Willie Specks, and her sisters Shirley Smith and Faye Armstrong.

Mrs. Specks accepted Christ at an early age, in Matagorda, TX. She moved to Houston, TX and joined First Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Carl Isaac Sr. She later joined Second Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Bryan O. Morris Sr.

“Don’t weep at my grave for I am not there,

I have a date with my heavenly father to dance in the air.

This is not goodbye, it’s just see you later

For now is my time to see our Creator.”

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5214 Cavalcade St, Houston, TX 77026. The funeral will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The committal will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Golden Gate Cemetery, 8400 Hirsch Rd, Houston, TX 77016.
