Dylan James Brown (affectionately referred to as “D-Man”) was granted his angel wings on September 7, 2016, following a courageous battle with a viral brain injury he suffered as a baby. He drifted away peacefully and beautifully in the arms of his adoring parents. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Dylan touched throughout his short, yet memorable life.
Dylan’s time with us was far too short, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of his life far exceeded the quantity of time he was here on earth. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and admiration for our sweet child, who was never able to speak, but managed to greatly inspire many others. We are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, we will always treasure the wonderful and unique memories we were able to create with Dylan. It has been a true privilege to be his parents. We are so thankful that Taylor, Dylan’s sister, got to spend almost three years with her amazing big brother. Dylan was also blessed to be able to meet and spend time with his two cousins, Avery Asher Brown and Benjamin Walker Grimes. He will forever remain in our hearts and will continue to be a source of joy.
Dylan is survived by his loving parents, James and Lauren Brown (Houston, TX); little sister, Taylor Brown; little brother expected late 2016; paternal grandparents, Bob and June Brown (St. Simons Island, GA); maternal grandparents, Grover and Krista Grimes (Houston, TX); great grandfather, George Brown (Virginia Beach, VA); great grandmother, Clara Dyson, (South Chesterfield, VA); Uncle/Aunt, Jason and Tracy Brown (Taylors, SC); Uncle/Aunt, Joshua Brown and Beth Strickland (Austin, TX); Aunt, Lesley Grimes (Houston, TX); Uncle/Aunt, David and Brittany Grimes (Houston, TX). Dylan also leaves behind loving great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Dylan James Brown’s life will be on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston, TX 77024, with a reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Dylan Brown Foundation in honor of Dylan, so we can continue our mission to help children and their families affected by brain injuries. More information can be found at www.dylanbrownfoundation.org.
