Earnest Dell Brooks Jr.

Earnest “Junior” Dell Brooks Jr., born on October 9, 1954, in Jefferson, Texas, to Earnest Dell Brooks Sr. and Alice Marie Jones, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 70.

Earnest graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973 and moved to Houston, Texas, in 1974. He began his career at Armco Steel, where he worked for 11 years until the plant closed. Following this chapter, he

pursued a passion for landscaping, eventually establishing his own successful landscaping company.

In 1975, Earnest married Celestine Robinson, and together they welcomed two daughters: Twylar Brooks in 1975 and Seneca Brooks in 1977. Though their marriage ended in 1984, Earnest remained a devoted father and cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren include Tiraneisha Brown, Taylor Thomas, Dominic Brown, Tyderia Brooks, Khalijah Thomas, and Tori Collins.

He was also blessed with three great- grandchildren: London Middleton, Mykah York, and

Anfernee Chatman Jr.

Earnest was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Reginald Sheppard; his nephew, Donte J. Brown; and his niece, Latasha D. Jones. He is survived by his daughters Twylar Brooks and Seneca Brooks Dotson (Carlos), sisters Theresa F. Jones and Cheyre A. Jones, uncle James Jones (Ethel), and aunt Betty Mitchell, and host of family and friends.

An avid outdoorsman, Earnest found joy in deer and squirrel hunting. He also treasured time spent with his extended family at reunions and gatherings in the countryside—a testament to his deep love for family

connections.

Earnest’s legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and love for the simple joys of life will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.

A visitation for Earnest will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, followed by a funeral from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Interment will be private.
