Earnest Lee Maberry, 73, was born in 1946 to Braxton and Wilma Maberry in Pasadena, TX. After High School, He joined the U.S. Marine Corps, trained as an Expert Marksman, Parachutist; aircraft engine Mechanic and served as a crew chief on CH-46 helicopters in the HMM-364 “Purple Foxes” squadron during the Vietnam War. Later in his military career, he also had the honor of serving in the HMX-1 Presidential helicopter squadron. After his service in the military Earnest spent much of his career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he retired in 2011. During his free time, Earnest took the outdoors; enjoying hobbies such as hunting, fishing, gardening and photography- activities he loved sharing his passion for with his two sons. If he wasn’t outdoors, he could just as easily have been found inside a garage tinkering with a project. He was very mechanically inclined and loved fixing things, especially cars. Taking something that was broken and then fixing it, always gave him a great sense of accomplishment and joy. Earnest also had a great sense of humor and was always looking for opportunities to work in a joke or funny comment into conversations and gave everyone who knew him many moments of smiles and laughter which we will always cherish. We will always remember the good times and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of the family and friends who survive him.
