Eddie, a cherished soul and respected pillar of his community, embarked on his life journey in Deadwood, Texas, born on February 17, 1933, to the late Harrit Washington and A.D. Ross. His early years were spent in the warm embrace of Carthage, Texas, where he not only pursued his education but also embraced his faith, a guiding light throughout his life.
The vibrant city of Houston, Texas, later beckoned, where fate led him to meet his beloved wife, Bobbie J. Ross. Their union was a cornerstone of his life. Eddie's spiritual journey found a home at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he dedicated himself to the Sunday School Board, reflecting his commitment to faith.
Professionally, Eddie's journey began with Kroger, but his entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to establish his own Landscaping & Lawn business. This endeavor was a reflection of his deep appreciation for nature, paralleled only by his love for his home garden and engaging in home improvements, a pastime he fondly referred to as "work." Eddie found joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was fishing on his boat, exploring new horizons through travel with his wife, or cherishing moments with his family.
Eddie's journey was also marked by loss, as he was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Lois Joseph, Versie Mae Green, Mina Mae Rougely, Essie Lee Graves, A.D. Ross, Ervin Ross, Offie D. Ross, Charles Ross, Johnny Lee Ross, J. W. Murray, Paul Johnson, Ernest Haywood, Elbert Ree O'gilvie, and Windolyn Ross. He also bore the heartache of losing his daughters Beverly Ross-Gentle, Darlene Ross, Bobbie Ross-Davis, and his cherished granddaughter LaQuanta Nichols (Shug).
Yet, his legacy lives vibrantly through his loving family. He leaves behind his daughters Marjorie Ross; sons Eddie D. Ross Jr. (P-nut) and William Crawford (Adrian); sister Bailey Jean Brown; and brothers John L. Ross (Ruthie), Louis Ross (Gloria), and Lonnie D. Ross, all of Houston, TX. His life's story continues through his grandchildren Dominique Crawford, Eddie D. Ross III "Tray" (Monica), Tiffany Ross-Robicheaux (Ar), Tomya Hearon (Keith), Jayke Davis, Janice Watts (Jamar), Danetta Davis, Dennis Ross, Demetrise Ross, Trice Ross, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, whose love for him was boundless and unwavering.
Eddie's life, a tapestry of faith, love, and resilience, will forever be etched in the memories of those who knew and loved him. His spirit, a guiding light, continues to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and community.
