

Edna Rae Babineaux went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2021. She was born February 7,1953 to her mother Vivian Ferguson White and her father Ivory White in DeRidder, LA. She was the baby girl of six brothers and sisters. Edna graduated from George Washington Carver HS in 1969 and then moved to Houston, TX in the 1970’s. After Edna moved to Houston she met Sidney Frank Babineaux and they married January 17, 1976. Their love created two children, Torrie Shantel Babineaux and Sidney Frank Babineaux, Jr.
In 1986, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at Fontaine First Baptist Church. Edna was very involved with the church community; participating in the women’s choir, deaconess board and as a minister’s wife. Edna and her family eventually moved to Greater St. Luke Baptist Church where she served as First Lady for many years. She was also a faithful member of Overcomers Community Church until her last days.
Edna worked for the US Postal Service and retired as a faithful worker of over 30 and made many wonderful friends in the process. She had a heart of gold and loved shopping for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edna spread love, joy and wisdom everywhere she went. Her love and smile will be something that she will always be remembered for. She was a true matriarch of her family. Edna is survived by her husband Sidney F Babineaux, Sr., her daughters Natrice Babineaux and Torrie Babineaux, her son Sidney F. Babineaux Jr. (Danesha), her brothers Jerome White (Delores), Van White (Judy), Glen (Gloria), sister Malissa (Marvin), seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Edna also leaves so many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many other loved ones. Edna Babineaux will always be loved and remembered.
