Ed Gripp passed away at his home on March 20, 2026, after a brief illness.
Ed was born on July 1, 1954, in Houston to Bert and Margaret Ryals Gripp. He grew up in Houston and attended Memorial High School before enlisting in the Army in 1972. He was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1978, and Ed returned to Houston where he graduated from St. Thomas University and lived in the area for the rest of his life.
Ed had a successful career in sales. He was employed with Fleur De Lis Worldwide where he worked for 14 years. He was well respected in the transportation industry and will be remembered and missed by his colleagues, customers, and vendors.
He leaves behind a family that will also miss him dearly. He is survived by his mother Margaret Pierce, his sister Gaynel Morris (husband Chuck), brothers Lyle Gripp (wife Sharon), and Gregory Gripp, in addition to nephews Colby Morris and Hunter Gripp and nieces Kelli Heishman and Meghan Savage. He is also survived by his life-long friend Lanham Frazier.
Ed was what many would call a free spirit, often preferring to be alone, but when he was in the company of others it was always a good time. He brought so much laughter and joy to his friends and family. Family often called him steady Eddie, which was a contradiction because you never knew if he would show up for a planned trip or a family event, but that was Eddie—he came and went as he desired, which was just part of his charm.
Ed enjoyed good music, good wine, and golf. He loved to hear bands live and he attended many concerts, but golf and the outdoors always seemed to rank number one. He played regularly and finally got to live his dream, buying a house that backed up to a golf course.
Eddie, your family, friends, and coworkers will miss you, and we hope you are relaxing with a good glass of wine after a great day on the golf course. You will forever hold a place in our hearts and memories. We love you.
