Edward Henry Mooney Jr.

Edward Henry Mooney was born on October 13, 1952 in Houston, Texas at St. Elizabeth hospital. He was the first and only child given to Mr. Edward Henry Mooney, I and Mrs. Gladys Marie Flakes Mooney. His parents instilled in him a desire to trust and obey God’s word. He attended Antioch Baptist Church on Beall Street at an early age. He enjoyed growing up at the Flakes family home with his younger brother, Ricky Lee Flakes, Sr. and cousins Clarence Evans, II and Larry Bernard Evans.

Edward started his education at Mabel B. Wesley Elementary School in the Kindergarten and finished his elementary work at Highland Heights Elementary School. During his time at M.C. Williams High School he completed a course in the ROTC and graduated in 1971. Edward entered the working class at Tommy Vaughn Ford Auto Dealership where he worked for several years.

He loved the outdoors - raking leaves, mowing grass, trimming bushes and driving around. Best of all, having a backyard BBQ!!!

He leaves to mourn his Aunt, Annie Mae Flakes, his brother Ricky Lee Flakes Sr. and wife (Winnetta), nieces and nephews, and cousins; Ricky Flakes, Jr. and family (Tia), Kai Flakes and Kaijsa, Krystle Flakes and family, Israel Rivera, Carlitto Rivera, Syer and Kross; Tiffany Parrott and family (Andre), Zoe Parrott and Chloe Parrott, Derrick Kossie and family (Jasmine), Elianna Kossie and Eva Kossie, Gerard Kossie and Terrielle Kossie, Eva Jean Ford and Terrance Ford family, Terrance Ford Jr. and family, Marquishi Threats and (Brad), Joshawa Ford, Donna Leah Evans, Amber Evans and Bella, Larry B. Evans and family (Fonda), Mia Evans, Moya Evans, Clarence Evans, III (Kenya), Christopher Shawn Evans and Chad Evans.

A visitation for Edward will be held Monday, August 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral services will immediately follow 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The committal will be held Monday, August 11, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
