

Edward W. Thorp, 74, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2026. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to everyone who knew him.
Edward was the proud father of two children, Tiffany Byrd (Jeffrey Byrd) and Ryan Thorp (Courtney Thorp), and a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: Gage Thorp, Owen Thorp, Easton Byrd, Emmett Byrd, and Savannah Feldner. He absolutely loved watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events, cheering them on with pride and joy. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his brother, Randy Thorp, and his sister, Pat Lucio, who will remember him for his humor, heart, and unwavering loyalty.
Edward enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful—crappie fishing on quiet waters, refereeing local games, and gathering with those he loved most. His strong work ethic carried him through a long career as a truck driver before retiring from US Foods. He was deeply respected for his reliability, honesty, and dedication.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family traditions that will be treasured by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the countless moments he made special.
Services will be held Saturday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery.
