Edwin (“Ed”) Mitchell, 90, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2017. He was born on November 14, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in Texas and lived most of his life in Pasadena and the Katy/West Houston area. After high school, he went into the Navy serving on the USS Higbee. Following the war, he worked as an electronic assemblyman at Schlumberger and Dresser before going to work at Compaq, where he was part of the early group (employee #364). He was really proud to end his career there during the exciting times when the business was really booming. He was a hard-worker who was a kind-hearted and generous man. He had a quiet presence, but had a good sense of humor, always ready to tell a “Daddy” joke. Cars and especially antique cars were things he enjoyed. He liked playing games like Yahtzee and Scrabble, and loved ice cream. He lived a life of integrity, always concerned about providing for his family. He saw the value of and enjoyed family vacations and family dinners. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and his family dearly and they are left with his lasting legacy of the importance of family, church, faith and having a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ed is survived by his wife, Phillis Mitchell, to whom he was married for 49 years. He is also survived by his son, David Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Will Litchfield; daughter, Rene’ Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dan Ives; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Barry; and daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Harley Boyle.
