Edwin “Bruce” Salinas, 85, of Harris County, TX passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. Bruce was born on January 17, 1936 to Nora and Victor Salinas in Denver, CO. He entered the United States Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1962. In 1968, he joined the Houston Police Department and served the city of Houston as a police officer until he retired in 2004. Bruce married Tillie in 1972 and went on to have two children, Wynnette and Ryan. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 61 year member of the Reagan Masonic Lodge No. 1037.
Bruce is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Victor Jr., Elvie, Frank, Norman and Clifford. His is survived by his wife Tillie, his sister Betty, his brother Elton, his daughter Wynnette and grandchildren Jacob and Hannah, and his son Ryan, his wife Sharon and grandson Lincoln.
The funeral will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079 on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Visitation will held at 1 pm with funeral services following at 2 pm. A graveside service will be held following the funeral services at approximately 3 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend to celebrate Bruce’s life.
Flowers can be sent to Memorial Oaks Funeral Home for the funeral. In lieu of flowers individuals can make a donation to Shriners Hospital or Houston Police Burial Fund in Bruce’s name.
