Elise Caillet Young

She was the daughter of the late Syl Eli Caillet and Elise Marie Troxler Caillet. Siblings predeceasing her were: Syl F. Caillet, Sr., Cecile Donnaud, Virginia Caillet, and Evelyn Leblanc. Elise is survived by her brother, Marcelin (Jack) Caillet, and sisters, Pearl C. Baudoin, and Velma Matis.

Elise C. Young graduated from Hahnville High School in 1931 and also completed business schools in New Orleans and Houston.

For greater than 30 years, she worked as Executive Assistant to Mr. John S. Dunn, Sr., as part of John S. Dunn and Son, Inc., Mortgage and Trust, Inc. and later, the John S. Dunn Research Foundation. In appreciation of her many years of service, the Elise C. Young Endowed Chair in Pediatric Oncology was established in 1987 at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital with the purpose of achieving a cancer-free future for children.

Elise was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.

Among her great passions: needlepoint, cooking, fishing, playing cards (bridge), and global travel. She enjoyed sharing stories, photos, and gathered treasures with her family from her many adventures to 6 of the 7 continents.
