Elizabeth Zuniga

Nuestra amada Elizabeth Escobar de Zúñiga, falleció pacíficamente en su casa el 1 de Abril de 2025 a sus 79 años, después de una batalla de 6 meses con cáncer. Le sobreviven su esposo Miguel A. Zúñiga, sus hijos Elizabeth y José Mauricio, su hermano Carlos Escobar y sus nietas Luisa, Sophía y Sarah.

Elizabeth nació en Girardot, Colombia, en 1945. El 24 de Abril de 1966 contrajo matrimonio con Miguel, con quien tuvo 3 hijos, Elizabeth, José Mauricio y Gloria Esperanza. En 1997, la pareja se mudó a New Jersey donde ella trabajó en Royal United hasta su retiro. En el año 2016 la pareja se mudó a Texas.

Elizabeth dedicó su vida a su familia y, posteriormente, a su comunidad en el camino Neocatecumenal. Gustaba de las plantas y las flores y de colaborar fervientemente para decorar la mesa de la Eucaristía. Siempre estuvo pendiente de los hermanos de su comunidad y del llamado a acercarse al Señor.

La familia de Elizabeth agradece al Dr. Julio Rodriguez, al Dr. Kevin Allenson, así como a las enfermeras y al cuerpo médico de Fairmont Home Hospice, y a todos quienes participaron en el cuidado y la atención de sus últimos días, dedicados a mitigar su dolor.

Our beloved Elizabeth Escobar de Zúñiga passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2025, at the age of 79, after a six-month battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Miguel A. Zúñiga, her children, Elizabeth and José Mauricio, her brother, Carlos Escobar, and her granddaughters, Luisa, Sophía, and Sarah.

Elizabeth was born in Girardot, Colombia, in 1945. On April 24, 1966, she married Miguel, with whom she had three children, Elizabeth, José Mauricio, and Gloria Esperanza. In 1997, the couple moved to New Jersey, where she worked at Royal United until her retirement. In 2016, the couple moved to Texas.

Elizabeth dedicated her life to her family and, later, to her community on the Neocatechumenal Way. She enjoyed plants and flowers and fervently helping to decorate the Eucharistic table. She was always attentive to the brothers and sisters in her community and the call to draw closer to the Lord.

Elizabeth's family is grateful for Dr. Julio Rodriguez, Dr. Kevin Allenson, the nurses and medical staff at Fairmont Home Hospice, and all those involved in the care and attention of her final days, dedicated to alleviating her pain.
