She is lovingly survived by her son Fernando Samano and wife Diana; her daughter Laura Samano Martinez and husband Ralph; her son Marco Samano; her six grandchildren; her two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Samano is preceded in death by her husband Fernando Samano Maya; her father Pablo Marines Murillo and mother Maria Cordova Marines, and three sisters and five brothers.
Elvia with her three young children immigrated to Houston to join her husband, Fernando, a master jeweler, in the early 1960s. Coming to a new country with a different language and culture and away from her extended family was challenging for her, but she persevered.
Elvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. For her, God, family, and friends were most important in her life. She was the youngest of her close knit family. Before she started her own family, she studied and taught haute couture. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, music, and ballroom dancing with her adoring husband. She also assisted her husband with his jewelry business. She valued devotion to our Lord, education, and respect and appreciation for her adopted country, the USA, while maintaining the love of her native Mexico in her heart.
The family wishes to thank all for the prayers and the expressions of love, kindness and comfort. A special thank you to those assisting in the celebration of life of our dear and beautiful Mother and Grandmother.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
