Emma Covey passed away on June 16, 2023 at the age of 72 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by love. She was a fiercely protective, incredibly giving and wonderfully loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who treated everyone she knew as one of her own.
She was born in New Orleans, LA on August 26, 1950 and was one of seven children. She was married to Johnny Covey for 53 years. Together, they had four children: Michelle, Johnny, Christie and Troy.
She dedicated her life to her family – being the best Mama to her four children, and being the best Grammy to her eleven grandchildren. She was always there for her family and made sure they were happy and supported and had whatever they needed.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny; children Johnny, Christie (Billy), and Troy (Rita); eleven grandchildren - Brendon, Seth, Reilly, Presley, Isabelle, Sidney, Cash, Mallory, Remington, Nola, and Emerson, and three brothers - Johnny, Howard, and Jack.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle; mother Margaret Addison; brothers Luther and Steve; and sister Hazel.
A visitation for Emma will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Covey, Troy Covey, Brendon Scott, Seth Scott, Billy Dills, and Johnny Freeman Jr.
