Ernest was born to Raymond Santos and Elvera Gutteries on March 28, 1949. He joined the Air Force at the age of 20 in 1968. After leaving the Air Force, he became a Journeyman Plumber and retired from Harris County in 2017. He married Sylvia Perez Santos twice, once in 1992 and then in 2004. Two times was a charm for them. They combined their two families together and made one.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia Perez Santos; sons, Ernest Jr. wife, Sylvia Denise, Timmy wife Anna, Raymond wife, Natalia Marie, Manuel Pizana wife Elizabeth, Mark; daughters, Evelyn Vasquez, Ruby Gonzalez husband Eddie Gonzalez; Brothers, Maurice, Fernando; sisters, Connie, Gloria; grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Ashley Nicole, Jazmine Rane husband Angel Salmeron, Destiny Raven, Nina Monique, Michael Ray, Manuel III, Briana Marie, Romeo Leonardo, Xavier Visento, Sebastian Asencion, AnaMaria Frances, Giovani, Julian, Jocelyn; great grandchildren, Caleb Rene, Elijah Anthony, Noah Jay, Devin Xavier, Christopher Davila, Adrian Cruz, Damian Eugene, Lailah Rose, Ethan and Zoe Denise who is coming in July; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe, Paul, Manuel, Raymond; sisters Emily, Sarah, and Maria.
