

Ernie, as he was known, was born August 5, 1947 in Ithaca, NY to Ernest Freeman Slocum and Ellen Ann Slocum. He spent his grade school years in Candor, NY and lived in Penn Yan, NY from 8th grade through high school. Ernie graduated from Cornell University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
He had a long business career that took him all around the world including living in London and many years living in Singapore. He eventually settled in Houston, TX and retired as a Vice President at Worley Parsons in 2014.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 40 years, Amelia Slocum. He leaves behind his daughter Melissa Huston and son-in-law Doug Huston, along with grandsons Tyler Huston and Brandon Huston. He is also survived by his siblings: Susan Round (and husband Stephen Round), Nancy Roisen, Patty Slocum Spear, Michael Slocum (and wife Dana Slocum) and Cathy Perry (and husband Manny Perry). His memory also lives on with his beloved nieces and nephews.
