Errol Lincoln Anthony Hanson was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on January 21, 1950, to Mr. Victor Lincoln Hanson and Ms. Gloria Louise Hanson. He was baptized in the Methodist Church and graduated from Strathford High School in Kingston. He enjoyed being a member of the boys’ brigade, playing soccer and ping-pong, driving fast cars, and listening to reggae music. After graduating from high school, Errol migrated to the United States in 1969, where he attended New York City Community College, RCA Institute, and Manhattan Technical Institute, concentrating on electrical technology and engineering.
Errol was employed by American Electrical Power, Inc. and Ebasco, Inc. in New York as an Electrical Designer and Field Engineer. In 1980, he moved to Houston, Texas, to accept employment with Bechtel, Inc. as a Senior Electrical Designer and continued service until his retirement in 2016. One thing Errol took pride in was his work ethic. He loved and excelled in every opportunity his skills led him to, which carried him across the United States. He was affectionately called “The PTO King.” He rarely took a day off, so much so that he could travel for many weeks or months if he chose to use it. Some called him “Rolley,” but his go-to when trying to be incognito was “Lorre Nosnah.”
In June 1980, he met his beloved Monica. He immediately thought he had no chance but pursued her affectionately anyway. After dating, they fell in love and later united in holy matrimony on June 14, 1986. With this union, Victor was born. Errol and Monica showed their love as one by entertaining family and friends often, traveling and cruising until he became ill. Monica proudly honored her vows to care for her husband and best friend until he was called home.
Errol is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Lincoln Hanson and Gloria Louise Hanson; his Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Smith; uncles Roy Smith and George Smith; brothers-in-law Bernard Jones and Walter Else, Jr.; and many other beloved family members.
He leaves to cherish wonderful memories a devoted wife, Monica Else Hanson, a son, Victor Bernard Hanson, and two beautiful daughters, Shevoughn Errol-Lyn Hanson (Joel) and Tamara Hughes. Grandchildren:Dominique Simone Reyes, Donna Jackelin Jackson, Joel Jackson II, and Sophia Bernadette Hanson. Great-grandchildren: Israel Alejandro Reyes and Isabel Charme Reyes. Along with nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Hank” and many relatives, friends, and co-workers.
