Born in Houston, TX on April 26, 1931 to Otto and Hattie Pechacek, Ervin grew up in the Heights area and attended Christ the King. At age 18, he quit his job at Mrs. Baird’s bakery and took a job as a plumber’s apprentice. He then became a master plumber and opened E&A Plumbing.
One of his proudest accomplishments was putting each of his four children through college, as well as buying each of them a car. Ervin was an avid hunter, jokester, and loved to play dominoes and cards. He was known for his “tinkering” in the garage and could just about fix anything. He was the first one to be there when family and friends needed help. He was never too tired to play “hide and seek" with his 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Ervin served 9 years in the National Guard and was a founding member of St. Jerome Catholic Church where he was a parishioner for 65 years. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Edwina; son, Ronald Pechacek (wife Debbie); son, Mark Pechacek; son, Mike Pechacek (wife Terri); daughter, Kay Pechacek; brother, Melvin Pechacek (wife Claudia); sister-in-law, Willie Mae Pechacek; sister-in-law, Carolyn Pechacek; granddaughter, Dana Sehion (husband Will); granddaughter, Abbie Pechacek (husband Jason); granddaughter, Rebekah Nolen (husband Jarryd); granddaughter, Shannon Lindholm (husband Axel); grandson, Kyle Pechacek; great-grandchildren, Claire, Grace, Olivia, Sadie, Savannah, Emma, and Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
