Esther Camacho Garcia, beloved mom, grandmother and great grandmother, left her Earthly body at the age of 94 on October 14, 2025. She was born February 16, 1931 to Zeferina Bonilla Camacho and Señon Juan Camacho in Pasadena, Texas. Esther was the second child out of seven children.
At the age of 13 she learned to work in the neighborhood store, because she loved math. She was quick at adding in her head. There she met Rafael Garcia and honored God's covenant for 74 years. They had five children together: Ralph, Yolanda, Abel, Hilda and Linda. She tried working making springs for a mattress company but it was such hard work that she decided it was not for her. Later, she and her sister's worked at a seasonal fruitcake company named Carver's, but that job was also only temporary because at the request of her husband, she would stay home to care for their youngest daughter, Linda.
Although being a full-time mom was a blessing, there was a divine job waiting for her. She grew in her faith at Lakewood under John Osteen along with her friend Carmen Olivo and they began taking classes. They would visit hospitals, praying for the sick in the mighty name of Jesus. They went to seminars and conferences every chance they got. Their determination was noticed and they were invited by the priest at Catholic Charismatic Church to teach the senior citizens about what they learned.
Together, Rafael and Esther saw their mission field was their neighborhood to spread the love of Jesus. They worked that year having their first successful vacation Bible school. Through word of mouth by others, they would be placed to be ministers of Port of Houston on Dorset Street. By the grace of their Lord, they were able to not only preach the gospel, but also provide up-keep of the church grounds. Rafael and Esther spent countless hours at their church and gave their new community a safe place to worship. They continued to give of themselves and were blessed beyond measure.
When they were not at church, they could be found supporting their grandchildren at baseball [my daddy's favorite pastime], football, soccer, and basketball games.
Esther has left us a beautiful legacy about commitment, being a Proverbs wife, staying in prayer for everything, talking and sharing the faith, staying humble, never losing hope and most importantly feeding herself with the Word of God. She is at peace and her body is restored with Jesus. At the gates of Heaven, Esther will be met by Rafael, her husband and her sons Ralph and Abel.
She is Heaven Bound!
