Eula Mae Collins Williams was born on December 11, 1938 in Arnaudville, Louisiana. She was the oldest surviving child from the union of Antoine Collins and Octavia Prince Porter (both deceased). In 1960, Eula moved to Houston, where she married her husband of 39 years, Joseph Percy Williams, Sr. (deceased). From this union, she bore four children, Joseph Percy Williams, Jr. (Pamela), Angelita Kay Williams (Sheila Wainwright), Eulalia Trahan Jones, and Marcus Quinton Williams (deceased).
Eula loved to serve others, often volunteering time to babysit children within her family and beyond. She was an avid cook and enjoyed planning special family dinners filled with everyone’s favorite dish. After the passing of her husband, she dedicated her life to her grandchildren, who gave her a sense of purpose. When Eula’s daughter began traveling for work, she kept a suitcase packed to tag along and babysit her grandchildren. Eula traveled the U.S. and often said she was having the best time of her life.
Outside of her love of family, Eula found joy in dressing up in new outfits, especially in her favorite color, red. She spent her free time shopping, gardening, and watching soap operas and music-related shows.
Eula’s memory lives on through those who loved her: her children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, her youngest son, parents, and two siblings, Laura Mae Collins Mallet and John Chester Collins.
