Evelyn Ruth Myers

Evelyn Ruth Myers, 87, of Houston, Texas passed away in her home on October 10, 2013. A private family memorial service will be held at Pat H. Foley & Co. Funeral Home at 2:00pm on Saturday, October, 19, 2013. Her great-nephew, Tyler Bryan will be officiating.

Evelyn was born January 2, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri to her parents, Thurman P. Kelley and Helen M. Kelley. She married Harry G. Myers on July 25, 1948 in Kansas City. They were married for 51 years prior to his death on January 8, 2000.

Evelyn worked as the Executive Assistant to the Controller at The Superior Oil Company until her retirement in 1998. She has been a long time member of First Baptist Church of Houston, where she and her husband Harry were very involved in the choir and their programs at church; especially the annual Christmas Pageant. She loved traveling with her friends, John and Marion Hemmenway to Canton searching for finds she would then decorate her home with. In recent years, she attended Baptist Temple Church and participated in many activities there until her illness. She loved spending time with her family and attending all of the family events.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Dr. Robert Kelley and his wife Donna of Houston; brother, David Kelley and wife Mary of California. She is also survived by her niece, Janet Matura and husband Tom; nephew, Dr. Gregory Kelley and wife Nan, and nephew, Dr. Jeffrey Kelley and wife Deniece; also from California, Ronald Kelley and wife Kelly. She also has many great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as friends and neighbors that will miss her dearly.
