Ewell Edward Newman Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vallie Wae Todd and Joe Jewel Newman, brother Billy Joe Newman and also grandson Nathan Daniel Severson.

Ewell is survived by his children, Billie Jean Johnston, Ewell E. Newman, Jr. and Sherri Newman, David Pena, and Lita Dishongh; brother, Gene W. Newman and sister-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, Richard Chadwick Dishongh, Jonathan Henry Dishongh, Daniel Aaron Pena, Paul Ray Pena, Amy Blotz, Brina Nicole Cash, Amber Wae Newman, Ewell E. Newman, III, and Jesse Pena; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Dishongh, Madison Dishongh, and Linkin Jude Dishongh.

Ewell spent his time hunting, fishing, BBQing, wood working, doing yard work, and just plain working hard. His family and friends were very special to him. He also belonged to several organizations, such as The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rusk, Texas, The Knights of Columbus, the Rusk Rural Water Department, the N.R.A., and the Texas State Rifle Association.

A visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6-9pm with a rosary service beginning at 7:30pm. The funeral service will be held at Brookside on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 3pm with burial to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael E. DeBakey Hospital.

The family is requesting everyone to wear the color yellow and cowboy boots.
